The Blue Square Nassau Stakes is run at Goodwood and will be held this year, 2010, on July 31. The victor from last year has already been confirmed as a runner, – Midday who has already won four races this year, and looks tough to beat.
I know I go on about Early Odds, but once again this is a prime example of when they work in your favour. I have just secured a bet on Midday using Betfair, the UK’s Premier Online Bookmaker, at odds 4.6 (7/2).
This year MidDay has only run once, but she claimed The Breeders Cup and against similar opposition this time out it could be an easy stretch home for such a powerful horse.
Last year the ground at Goodwood was very soft, which gave advantage to Midday and conditions could once again play a part in how well she can find her stride.
Barshiba has finished fourth at both these meetings before and with some luck could pull a big upset out of the bag.
David Elsworth, the man behind Barshiba, recently said:
“My plan is for Barshiba to go to the Nassau Stakes before giving her a run at the Yorkshire Oaks.”
“We will keep our powder dry this year and go to Goodwood next with a view to heading on to York afterwards, so we are treading a similar path really.”
“Barshiba runs to a very high level, as she showed at Haydock again. She ran a good race behind Harbinger at Royal Ascot when I don’t think she had come to her best. She always starts to show her best form at this time of year.”
It is my opinion that smart money will be on Midday, but, that people looking to score big profits will be riding the edge with serious money on Barshiba.
