After our recent article on how to place a bet on betfair, we have received several emails asking us How To Place An Each Way Bet On Betfair, as well as one asking which of the two different ways available to place Each Way Bets on Betfair that we think is best.

Wait, what’s this? … there are two ways to place an Each Way Bet on Betfair? You bet there are, and they have subtle differences to the odds you’ll receive.
Once logged in, the simplest way to place your bet is to navigate to the Horse Racing card for today and select the race you want to back.
You can find today’s card by either clicking on Horse Racing, or Popular Sports, as indicated in red, the card you want to click is in yellow in the above image.
I’m going to be placing a £1000 Each Way Bet on our Free Horse Racing Tip of the Day, which today is the 14:25 at Ascot, on “Golden Creek”.
Navigate to the race, and select the horse you want to bet on, in my case, on Golden Creek.
Click on the Bet button to bring up the betting window, enter your Stake, pay close attention to the little E/W tick box this needs to be ticked for an Each Way Bet to be placed.
Notice that an Each Way Bet counts as two separate bets, both will pay out if the horse wins, the Place Bet only pays out if the horse comes in place (generally 1st, 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th if there are lots of horses in the race). As two bets are placed, your total stake is double that entered in the box.
Click on Place Bets and its all done. You’ve just placed an Each Way Bet at Betfair’s starting price, that’s good right?
Placing An Each Way Bet Using The Exchange
I’ve been studying the form books a lot these last few years, and to show you How To Place An Each Way Bet Using The Betfair Betting Exchange, at the odds that you want, I’m going to be placing a bet on one of my own favourites.
Running the Delancey Apprentice Handicap at 17:20 today is Mistoffelees.
We follow the same procedure as above, regarding the selecting of the race, but once we get to the screen where last time we placed our bets, this time we are going to actually enter The Betfair Betting Exchange itself.
Click where indicated, and the Betting Exchange opens up. I want to back “Mistoffelees”, so I go ahead and click on the blue square next to her name and like before, the betting window opens up. The odds I have displayed to me are the best available at any given second. I have been offered odds 6/4 (2.46), and with the bet I want to place, only £5,110 profit.
I want odds that are better than this, so I change my odds to something more profitable. You see, I believe that the odds on this horse will lengthen as the race draws nearer, so I am going to place a bet at odds 2/1 (3.0) and hope it gets taken before the race is off. This gives me a much more healthy £7,000 profit on this bet.
Click Place Bet, Confirm, and then you’re all done.
You follow the same procedure as above for placing the Place Bet, except you have to enter the Place Exchange, which is indicated on the image below:
It’s really as easy as that guys. If you want to place the bet quickly and easily feel free to use the first method – if you are a more advanced gambler and need to manipulate the odds then the second one is best.
