England Vs Pakistan 1st Twenty20 Cricket International

In what is likely to be a top rate 1st Twenty20 Cricket International match in the UAE on 5th Sept 2010, England will take on World Champions Pakistan in the first of two matches.

These early matches will be their only warms ups before the T20 World Cup begins in the West Indies in April 2011 and England are looking to capitalise on a great run of form.
Twenty20 Cricket International - England Team
England skipper Paul Collingwood tells us:

“The England batting line up has become stronger and stronger over the last few months, which inspires great confidence and forces any opponents not to take them too lightly.”

We are confident that England can capture the form that they showed in the the five match ODI series although the World Champions, Pakistan, are favourites right now with the bookies.

Twenty20 Cricket Explained

Recently one of our readers sent us an email asking for more information on Cricket, so we thought it best to include a short explanation of the background of Twenty20. Twenty20 is a particular form of cricket, introduced in the United Kingdom originally for professional inter-county competition by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), in 2003. A Twenty20 game involves two teams, each has a single innings, batting for a maximum of 20 overs. Twenty20 Cricket is also known as T20 Cricket.

A Twenty20 game is completed in about three and half hours, with each innings lasting around 75 minutes, thus bringing the game closer to the timespan of other popular team sports. It was introduced to create a lively form of the game which would be attractive to spectators at the ground and viewers on television and as such it has been very successful. The ECB did not intend that Twenty20 would replace other forms of cricket and these have continued alongside it.

England Vs Pakistan Twenty20 Tips

Right now, on our favourite Online Bookmaker, the Twenty20 Cricket International - Pakistan TeamBetfair Betting Exchange, you can place a bet on Pakistan to win at odds 8/11 (1.73). This isn’t a bad bet but Pakistan have struggled to capitalise since winning the Twenty20 World Cup last year. They lost every international match that they played in Australia this year and two of their star players, bowler Umur Gul and mid-order Yasir Arafat will not play due to injuries picked up. However, there’s no doubt that the return of veteran batsman, Mohammad Yousuf, who had retired from internationals earlier in the year after the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to indefinitely ban him, makes a big difference. His innings of 56 and 33 were solid but unspectacular and his calmness at the crease set an example to his confidence-crushed teammates. Steve James of the Daily Telegraph likened his impact to that of a shepherd, as he inspired those around him, such as Azhar Ali.

England are looking a much better bet at odds 11/10 (2.1), and as captain Paul Collingwood has the full line up to select from, including a fully fit Kevin Pieterson, things are looking strong. As long as the England Cricket team are not too dismissive of Pakistan’s abilities and come to this match prepared, we should have an England victory. Considering their dominant early season, I am tipping England to take this in style.
