In what is likely to be a top rate 1st Twenty20 Cricket International match in the UAE on 5th Sept 2010, England will take on World Champions Pakistan in the first of two matches.
These early matches will be their only warms ups before the T20 World Cup begins in the West Indies in April 2011 and England are looking to capitalise on a great run of form.

A Twenty20 game is completed in about three and half hours, with each innings lasting around 75 minutes, thus bringing the game closer to the timespan of other popular team sports. It was introduced to create a lively form of the game which would be attractive to spectators at the ground and viewers on television and as such it has been very successful. The ECB did not intend that Twenty20 would replace other forms of cricket and these have continued alongside it.

Looking into the background behind the Pakistani Cricket team no-ball apparent scandal made me realise just how huge the cricketing industry is, uniforms, bats, balls, clothing etc. Billions of pounds are at stake here. Surely the players themselves (without whom this whole shebang couldn’t happen) have to be far better paid than they seem to be in order to remove any temptation on their part to undo this huge enterprise by, against all the rules of fair play on the pitch, beefing up their comparitive pittance of an income by illegally betting and thus earning a small extra crust for themselves. How about more largesse to the players in the first instance? Pay them properly in the first place and you won’t develop these hang-ups.
