England begin their defence of The Ashes Series 2010 crown with the New Year Test in Sydney delayed by a day. Normally the series would begin on the 2nd of January – however during 2010 the players will get an extra day off to recover from the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
The Ashes Series 2010 between England and Australia will feature the usual five matches, starting at The Gabba in Brisbane on Thursday, the 25th of November and concluding at Sydney on the 3rd of January 2010.
The Ashes Series 2010 Dates

The full list of the Ashes Cricket dates are as follows:

- Second Test: 3-7 December 2010 in Adelaide
- Third Test: 16-20 December 2010 in Perth
- Fourth Test: 26-30 December 2010 in Melbourne

David Collier, the England and Wales Cricket Board Chief Executive was upbeat last week when asked about the Ashes Series 2010.
“The most recent Ashes Test series between the two sides was the sporting highlight of the summer and has really whetted the appetite of all Cricket supporters as England seek to retain the Ashes next winter. I feel we have a strong team, overflowing with passion and desire so it should be an exciting match up.”
Australia have an impressive record when it comes to the Ashes Cricket – there have been 64 Ashes series played and Australia have won 31 times, England 28. The remaining five were drawn. The win-loss ratio in Ashes Tests stands at 121 wins for Australia to 95 wins for England, with 84 draws.
National pride always plays a part when International sporting events are in the spotlight, and whilst I’d love to be advising an England Win bet – the statistics and form don’t fill me with confidence. England have one of the strongest teams in recent memory but something is lacking. A disappointing show of form against Pakistan leaves questions to be answered in this Ashes Test and the Australians are playing some of the best cricket in the world today.
On the Betfair Betting Exchange the following odds are available for the outright winner of The Ashes Cricket 2010:
Australia to WIN @ Odds 6/5 (2.16)
England to WIN @ Odds 12/5+ (3.45)
DRAWN SERIES @ Odds 14/5 (3.8)
If you’ve got some money to burn and don’t mind a risky gamble – the high odds on the drawn series might be worth a punt. I know England are going to put up a brave defence of their 2009 crown but I think the Australians will come out on top this year and the smart money will be on them to Win.
