Betfanatic.co.uk have decided to compile information on UK racecourses and share it with our members – todays feature is Ascot Racecourse, and we’ll be bringing you key information such as what facilities there are and how you get there.
The whole team have just returned from a days racing at Ascot so check out our photographs and videos towards the end of this article. Ascot has the honour of hosting Royal events and should be visited by any serious Horse Racing fan looking for a luxurious day out.
There are two different racing experiences available at Ascot Racecourse, the standard Ascot Experience or the more exclusive Royal Ascot. Which ever you have chosen you are in for a totally unforgettable day of horse racing and fine dining.
The quality of the horse racing at Ascot is simply outstanding. There are plenty of places to watch the racing. Stand by the rails to feel the vibration as the horses thunder down the Straight Mile to the Winning Post, or relax in luxury in a seventh floor private box. To get the best position to watch the racing we advise you find your spot at least 5 minutes before each race.
Ascot, one of the leading racecourses in the United Kingdom, hosts 9 of the UK’s Group 1 races, the most prestigious race is the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes run over the course in July. Ascot has two tracks: the Flat Track and the National Hunt Track. The Ascot Flat Track is a right-handed triangle galloping track. It is stiff with few undulations. The track is just over 1 mile and 6 furlongs round, with 2½ furlong run-in. The track has a straight mile and a round mile. All races up to 7 furlongs on straight track.
The Ascot National Hunt Track is right-handed, galloping track, with stiff fences. The circuit is 1 mile and 5 furlongs. It runs mostly uphill which provides a good test of stamina and jumping ability. Which ever track is being used the winning post is directly in front of the grandstands, so you can be guaranteed the perfect view as the horses cross the line.
On Saturday 30th October 2010 the entire Betfanatic team was invited to meet the guys behind the Horse Racing Advisory Service, From The Stables, for a tour of Charlie Mann’s Racing Stables – we have recently published an article describing When Betfanatic Met From The Stables and at the end of that day we all visited Ascot Racecourse for the final meet of the Season.
Betfanatic had a wonderful experience at Ascot Racecourse. The From The Stables team had arranged owners passes for us all – giving us much better access to the facilities and allowing us to relax in style. We managed to document the event well and enclose our favourite photographs below.
We also managed to capture the final few minutes of the magnificent Ascot Racecourse fireworks display. It was by far the best fireworks we have ever seen – designed by the double British championship winning display team Star Fireworks . It was an unforgettably wonderful day!
