For sheer spectacle, atmosphere and excitement a day at Doncaster Racecourse is a tradition that is hard to beat. Race days at Town Moor have been drawing appreciative crowds for centuries and Doncaster has long been regarded as one of the finest racecourses in Europe and the best place for horse racing in Yorkshire.
The most prestigious race to be run at Doncaster Racecourse is the world famous St Legar Stakes which Betfanatic have already reported on earlier this year.
The St. Leger is the worlds oldest and longest classic race and is run over a total distance of 1 mile, 6 furlongs. It is the longest race of the English Classics series and St. Leger is worth £500,000 in prize money, making it also one of the most valuable races in the year. The Racetrack at Doncaster is a left-handed, pear-shaped track running 1 mile 7½ furlongs which is mostly flat. There are courses for Flat racing and National Hunt racing, and both are used extensively throughout the season. After a £34 million redevelopment, racegoers now enjoy a whole new experience at this world class venue.
At the heart of this new development is an impressive five storey grandstand. The Main Stand includes stunning new private hospitality suites, a wide range of catering outlets, bars and luxury dining areas.
