Folkestone Racecourse From The Air

The sheer spectacle and colour of seeing racehorses and jockeys close up, the bustling activity that surrounds the betting, the lively excitement of the race itself, the sociability of a day out in the open air with family, friends or business associates, and the opportunity to win yourself a few pounds – you can’t beat being there!

Folkestone Racecourse can become surprisingly testing in the middle of winter, invariably resulting in ‘short runners’ failing to get home. The steeplechase track consists of seven fences to a circuit with no water jump and the open ditch being the third last. On the hurdles course, a very long run of approximately five furlongs between the last two flights plays into the hands of former flat horses with a turn of foot.

Folkestone hosts Flat and Jumps racing over 11 months of the year. The course has recently undergone a complete makeover and now offers superb facilities. The oval shaped course is run right handed and is 1 mile 3 furlongs in length. The ground is undulating with tight bends. The chase course has 7 easy fences and a run-in of 1 furlong.
