Pontefract Racecourse From The Air
The racing programme has been greatly improved in recent years. The motorway links provide good communications not only with local training centres but also with other major training centres in the country, notably Newmarket, with the result that the racing is both competitive and entertaining.
Closed circuit television is in operation on every race day, with televisions in all bars and refreshment areas. There are modern Tote facilities and kiosks throughout the stands. There is an off-course betting office in the paddock and second enclosure. One ‘claim to fame’ for the racecourse is that it is the longest continuous racing circuit in the country, at a little short of 2m 1f .

This bar, situated on the ground floor of the Dalby Stand, serves a selection of hot rolls, paninis sandwiches and cakes along with a number of hot daily specials and salads. Perfect for those wanting something to eat but without missing any of the racing!They also show a range of different sports in this area so you can keep up to date with all that’s going on in the sporting world.
Paddock Self-Service Restaurant
A self service restaurant is available on the first floor of the Grandstand & Paddock section of the Main Stand. This was refurbished in 2009.The menu for 2011 sees a selection of hot daily specials, sandwiches and drinks. This restaurant is ideal for those who are looking for speedy service so that they don’t miss any of the racing action.

Getting to Pontefract Racecourse couldn’t be easier as they are just 1/2 a mile from Junction 32 of the M62 and there are directional signs from the motorway. Also within a mile of the A1/M62 junction and within 10 miles of the M1/M62 junction so it’s accessible from all over the country.

The Dress Code in the Premier Enclosure is SMART CASUAL – no scruffy jeans, sportswear, shorts or trainers. No other dress codes apply in any other enclosure.
