Thirsk Racecourse Information

Thirsk Racecourse

The Grandstand At Thirsk Racecourse

In 2005, Thirsk Racecourse proudly celebrated 150 years of racing on the course at Station Road in Thirsk. A good choice for a day out at the races, with high quality racing, good facilities and attractive surroundings. The course at Thirsk is used for flat racing between April and September and a good quality is always on show.

The Racetrack at Thirsk is made up of two sections, a straight course of 6 furlongs, running parallel to Station Road, with the start close to Thirsk Railway Station and the winning post in front of the grandstand. There is also a left hand circuit, about one and a quarter miles in length which joins the straight course some three furlongs from home. Races up to 6 furlongs use the straight course and the 7f and 1 mile starts are near the racing stables. Races longer than 1 mile start on the home straight and involve a complete circuit.
