Warwick Racecourse retains its historic charm and character. Nestled next to Warwick Castle, the racecourse is one of the oldest in the country and with racing having taken place here since the 1700s, this is a course rich in tradition and heritage.
Warwick Racecourse enjoys a full racing calendar all year round with both Flat and Jumps meetings taking place on weekdays and weekends, afternoons and evenings. The racecourse has something for everybody from excellent raceday packages to elegant hospitality suites, marquees and private boxes.
Warwick races 12 months of the year with 22 fixtures under both codes of Flat and Jumps. The most valuable race run at Warwick is Totesport Classic Chase, a race over 3 miles and 5 furlongs run on the second Saturday each January.
The other main jumps feature is the Kingmaker Novices Chase Day, a festival trial meeting that takes place in February and provides excellent clues for the forthcoming Cheltenham and Aintree festivals. The Flat highlights take place in midsummer June with The Listed Eternal Stakes with over £30,000 in prize money, and The Listed Warwickshire Oaks.
A left-handed track of one and three quarter miles in circumference, horses that can lie handy to the pace are greatly favoured as the very short run-in of just over two furlongs catches out many a hold-up performer. The five fences down the back straight come thick and fast and therefore a sound jumper is required. Big fields are commonplace for both codes of racing and the new £3 million grandstand, completed in 2000, offers vastly improved facilities.
Warwick Racecourse has a wide range of facilities that will cater to every style. You can choose to dine in first class style in one of the restaurants, or enjoy a lighter meal or snack in the self service areas and bars.
